Installed below potentially loose and unstable rock faces Maccaferri Rockfall Barriers (or Catch Fences) are designed to catch falling rocks and boulders.
Independently full-scale tested and certified, Maccaferri Catch Fences are supplied in a 'kit form'. All components and accessories are provided in the kit, including panel mesh, anchors, posts, footing plates, brakes, cables, and clips. These systems were developed through the combination of design and field tests, as required by the official standards (ETAG 027-2008 “Guideline for European Technical Approval of Falling Rock Protection Kits”).
The barriers are classified at 500kJ (CTR05), 1000kJ (CTR10), 2000kJ (CTR20), 30000kJ (CTR30) and 5000kJ (CTR50) energy absorption capacity.
Barrier heights are typically 3, 4 or 5 m high with post to post spacing at 5 or 10 m centre.
