Steelgrid MO
Traditionally, when standard and rock fall netting are not able to offer sufficient strength for certain projects, the mesh is reinforced by installing steel cables across the rockface as a secondary operation during installation.

By offering both reinforcement cables and mesh within one product, Maccaferri Steelgrid can significantly reduce installation time and costly 'face time' for the installing contractor. Steelgrid is reinforced with high tensile (1770N/mm?.

Steel cables with 8mm diameter are inserted within the mesh at regular intervals in both directions (bi-oriented) or in one direction only (mono-oriented) to suit your application.

Maccaferri Steelgrid is used in both 'passive' and 'active' project applications.

'Passive' rocks are allowed to detach from the rockface and fall, but are controlled by the Steelgrid drapery mesh which encapsulates the debris.

'Active' rocks are restrained from detaching or falling from the rockface by the presence of the Steelgrid which is secured tightly to the rockface, using anchors and spike plates. It is important that the mesh is flexible and 'workable' enough to conform to the rockface without bridging concave areas on the slope.

Maccaferri Steelgrid is supplied in rolls, and being manufactured from our double twist mesh, Steelgrid does not unravel when wires in the mesh are damaged or broken by rock impact; unlike single twist chain link style or welded meshes. Its flexibility allows Steelgrid to be pulled tightly into the rock face using anchor plates if required.

Steelgrid MO (Mono Oriented)

• consists of woven 3mm Ø wire mesh where the conventional selvedge wires are replaced by 8mm Ø steel rope ongitudinally at a spacing of 1.5m.
